That’s right!   There, I said it.  Landlord’s aren’t in the real estate business.  The best landlords get this, and there are a lot of good landlords around.  In fact, landlords are not in a lot of businesses.  For instance, they’re not in the business of:

As a current retailer and former mall manager I totaly appreciate your point of view. The best mall operater in this country during the 1970-2000 period was The Rouse Company. Started by Jim Rouse, Columbia, MD, who’s point of view was our client is the retailer, the retailer’s client is the customer. If we make the retailer’s life better, they will do the same for the customers who come into our malls and we will all enjoy success. Sadly I no longer see that point of view in the shopping mall business.

In challenging times like these, many companies struggle to maintain what may have been their norm, services get cut back, and the focus stays on survivability. But, like the Phoenix rising from the ashes, keep your eyes peeled for those companies who will soon begin to outpace the norm and will again recognize that great service and a great experience is what keeps customers and tenants, and what keeps them coming back. It ‘ain’t over!

Thanks very much for your comment. I hope to hear from you again!

Good point. I read every post and find most, not all, valuable. You are a thought leader, and while you won’t nail each post, the majority of your tracks inspire me and spur my thinking…

So, yea, it was a compliment…
